Hanging out in Greenwich is one of my favourite things to do on my days off, especially when the weather is on point. South East London is my stomping ground and Greenwich gives me a real sense of why I love this part of London. There are so many things to do here but I’m going to give you a high level run down of the must-sees and must-d0s. You can’t come to Greenwich without checking out the market and all it has to offer with it’s selection of crafts, antiques and collectibles you can browse at your leisure. And did I mention the awesome food vans they have?! My favourite one I always go back to for lunch is Pig Dogs and Brisket, it is sooooo good (if you love meat)!
Next stop, Greenwich Park. If you want unbeatable views of the River Thames and Central London, look no further. And it’s even better if you head this way on a summer’s evening – the twinkling lights of London’s skyline are stunning. I’ve lost count of the number of picnics I’ve had here that have turned into lengthy sessions with friends just chilling till sundown! And if you’re into astronomy the Royal Observatory literally allows you to stand at the centre of time. And if you’re scratching your head wondering what that means, just go – you’ll soon have the knowledge!
In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m a sucker for sweet treats (well, just eating in general) and there’s pretty much a cute little restaurant or cafe on every corner serving up something good. I never get very far without grabbing a latte and slice of carrot cake. And for our vegan/gluten/wheat-free lovers, Red Door cafe is THE place to come if you want to sample some award winning delights.
The Cutty Sark is probably the top main tourist attraction in Greenwich. Not only does it look incredibly cool but it’s a real British institution and an absolute must-see if you ever come to London. Who wouldn’t want to get on a legendary ship and do some exploring?? Afterwards, make sure you head into one of my favourite pubs, the Gipsy Moth….I’ve enjoyed many a decent night out there, probably till closing time….I can’t remember. 😀
